Privacy Policy
Draft — last updated August 5, 2026
This is a draft policy published to support private-beta account sign-in. It has not yet been reviewed by qualified legal counsel (tracked as YOU-50) and will be replaced before any public launch. It describes our practices honestly as of today, but should not be treated as a final or legally exhaustive statement.
Who we are
Companion Worlds is an invite-only private beta operated by John (contact below). There is no separate corporate entity at this stage. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the operating entity.
What Companion Worlds is
Companion Worlds lets invited testers have text conversations with fictional adult companion characters and generate accompanying images, video, and voice audio. Companions are fictional; they are not real people, and conversations are not therapy, counseling, or a substitute for professional or emergency help. Access is restricted to adults (18+) and is currently limited to invited testers.
Information we collect
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile information Google shares under that sign-in (such as your email address), via our authentication provider, Supabase.
- Invitation and admission records: the invite code you use and whether your account has been admitted to the beta.
- Conversation content: the messages you send, companion responses, and any persistent “memory” the companion stores about your conversation so it can refer back to it later.
- Generated media: images, video, and audio generated during your conversations, and the prompts/settings used to create them.
- Security and abuse-prevention signals: bot-check (Cloudflare Turnstile) results, rate-limit and abuse signals, and technical logs needed to keep the beta stable and abuse-free. We do not log message or media content in these operational logs.
- Support communications: anything you send us directly, such as bug reports or feedback.
How we use it
We use this information to operate the beta: to authenticate you, admit you under your invitation, run conversations and generate media, keep companion “memory” working, protect the service from abuse, and communicate with you about your account or the beta itself. We do not sell your information, and we do not use beta conversation content for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run Companion Worlds, and share the minimum information each needs to do its job:
- Supabase — authentication and data storage.
- Google — sign-in (Google OAuth), when you choose to use it.
- Cloudflare — bot/abuse protection (Turnstile) and network delivery.
- Resend — transactional email (such as account recovery).
- Stripe — payment processing; during the beta this is restricted to Stripe’s test mode only, for named testers, with no real charges.
Companion chat generation and media generation currently run on hardware we operate directly, rather than through a third-party AI API provider. If that changes in a later stage, this policy will be updated first.
Retention
We have not finalized formal retention periods yet — that decision is part of the pending legal review (YOU-50). Until it is, we keep beta account and conversation data for as long as your account is active and the beta is running, and we delete data associated with an account on request (see below).
Your choices
You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing companionworlds@gmail.com. Because this is a small, invite-only beta, requests are handled manually rather than through a self-service tool today.
Children
Companion Worlds is restricted to adults (18+) and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if we learn an account belongs to a minor, we will disable it and delete associated data.
Security
We use standard safeguards such as encrypted transport (HTTPS), provider-managed authentication, and bot/abuse protection. No system is perfectly secure, and this is an early-stage private beta rather than a hardened production service.
Changes to this policy
Because this is a draft pending legal review, expect it to change — including substantive changes — before public launch. We will update the date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated to active testers.
